Description of the attraction

Bald Mountain in Goryachy Klyuch is one of the most conspicuous mountains in the vicinity of this resort town. The mountain peak is located not far from Anapa, and the village of Varvarovka in the interfluve of Psekupsa, practically opposite the famous Abadzekh mountain.

The total height of Lysaya Gora is about 423 meters above sea level. The densely forested peak gives a special flavor to the resort town. The mountain is distinguished by the fact that the places where the Pitsunda pine grows were discovered on it, the most western in the territory of the Caucasus. Some specimens of these striking representatives of the ancient Mediterranean flora are more than a hundred years old. On the other slope of the summit, a rare species of thyme and Koch pine grows.

At the top of Lysaya Gora, at an altitude of 420 meters above sea level, there is a monument to the brave warriors-defenders who defended these places during the Second World War. The most stubborn and fierce battles were fought for Mount Lysaya and the Wolf's Gate, it was here that the enemy concentrated all his main forces. The battles for these peaks turned into hand-to-hand combat. The defense of these heights was held by the 30th Irkutsk division. Having steadfastly overcome all trials, Soviet soldiers demonstrated a colossal will to victory. By its position, Lysaya Gora is an exceptional observation post, which is protected from three sides by large, inaccessible slopes. Possession of this hill gave tremendous advantages over the enemy.

At the eastern slope of Mount Lysoi there is a highway that connects the resort of Goryachy Klyuch with the Fanagoria village, at the western slope there is the Don motorway.

There is no such tunnel on the roads, and the dangerous Shahumyan pass serves to get to the other side.
