We will also clarify which products to pay attention to, and whether it is worth bringing Tokay wines, well-known in the past.

What to bring delicious from Hungary?

Experienced travelers say that Hungary has its own tourist grocery basket that has been formed over decades. This means that each guest in memory of this beautiful country takes home the following edible gifts: wine; liqueur; meat delicacies; paprika.

A variety of wines, including Tokaj and sparkling wines, are brought from the Hungarian capital and other cities; a very popular drink with the tickling name "Bull's Blood", which has a chic rich color. From strong alcoholic drinks, you can safely take with you "Palinka", vodka, which is infused with fruits, primarily apricots and cherries.

Meat products are also popular with guests of Hungary, especially local salami sausages, which go through a full technological cycle, in compliance with all the necessary terms and conditions. Such meat products are well stored, easy to transport, and, most importantly, very tasty. And, of course, the famous Hungarian paprika, which is present everywhere and everywhere: in ordinary grocery stores and in souvenir shops, where it is beautifully packaged and sold at much higher prices.

It must be remembered that paprika in Hungary is not only brick-red, as they are used to seeing in the Eastern European powers, its color, in addition to red, can be white or green. It is best to store in cloth bags to “breathe”, but in dry, ventilated areas. The gift set includes, in addition, the paprika itself, a ceramic storage container, a lid and a nice little scoop, with which the hostess will create culinary wonders.

Hungarian handicrafts

Many guests of the Hungarian capital are indifferent to wine and sausages, but they will not miss a single museum. In memory of Hungary, such tourists usually take away items made by local skilled craftsmen in the spirit of ancient traditions. Some tourists even hunt for antiques, realizing that the objects of art and everyday life of the past centuries are much more valuable. Among folk souvenirs, the first lines of the rating are occupied by the following items: matoy and Kalochai embroidery; porcelain; wooden dolls; curtains, interior items from textiles.

The most expensive folk products are Hungarian national costumes. Women's outfit consists of a blouse, skirt, apron, sleeveless jacket, men's outfit includes a shirt, trousers, sleeveless jacket. The cost is high, because embroidery is present in almost all elements, and sleeveless jackets (both women and men) are almost completely embroidered, moreover, by hand.

Another gift from Hungary for family and friends, loved by tourists, is porcelain from the town of Herend. The enterprise for the production of fine porcelain products has been operating since 1839, naturally, that during this time tremendous experience has been accumulated, and the skill is passed on from generation to generation. It is said that the British Queen herself makes purchases from this enterprise for Buckingham Palace.

Three original Hungarian souvenirs

In addition to food, expensive porcelain sets and national costumes, guests of Hungary, of course, buy huge quantities of small souvenirs for family and friends. Many of these seemingly Hungarian gifts are produced thousands of kilometers from the country by hardworking Chinese. But there are also such souvenirs, the production of which the Hungarians could not entrust to anyone, or rather, copies and analogues are found in other countries, but are of inferior quality.

The first souvenir is cute marzipan figurines. First, marzipan dough is prepared, then anything is made of it - cartoon characters and signs of the zodiac, amulets for various troubles and even images of people in traditional outfits. Firstly, thanks to special technologies, such dough is stored for a long time, and secondly, marzipan souvenirs are edible, very tasty.

Souvenir number two is an image of a Hungarian pig, but not an ordinary one, but a mangalitsa. This is a rare breed that differs from the usual representatives of this family by the presence of long hair. The third gift with a Hungarian character is a real Rubik's Cube, invented by a Hungarian, made in Hungary, not in some China.

As you can see, little Hungary knows how to surprise its guests, it is ready not only to show its best castles, monuments and sights. Leaving, tourists take away vivid memories, delicious, beautiful gifts and souvenirs.
